ECO Consult GmbH & Co. KG is among Germany’s leading international consultants to offer integrated advisory services for developing countries and countries in transition in the following areas: sustainable management and conservation of natural resources with a view to climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies, bioenergy and poverty reduction; rural development and value chains promotion as well as education, legal and administrative reform.

Fernando Camargo is managing director of ECO Consult and Secretary of the IVLA. He holds a law degree, as well as a Master degree in “Public Economics, Law and Politics”. He primarily works in the field of value chain development. He has long-standing experience in developed, emerging and developing countries with the German cooperation (GIZ), private sector and the consulting sector in the areas of environmental law and policies, value chain promotion, access and benefit sharing (ABS) and climate change adaptation.

He is experienced in the organization and implementation of ValueLinks Trainings and has expertise in the development of baseline-studies and evaluations as well as in the elaboration of market studies and economic analyses on value chains for several products (cork, charcoal, non-timber forest products, including honey and medicinal plants etc).

His regional experience covers: Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Brazil, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Germany, Ghana, India, Madagascar, Mexico, Mongolia, Mozambique, Portugal, Thailand

His working languages are Portuguese, English, German and Spanish.
