PÖSCHK, Bernd

Mr. Bernd Pöschk has been working in many international projects since 1994. As an international consultant in economics and agribusiness, Mr. Bernd Pöschk has specialized himself in promoting value chains in agricultural and in the food processing industry. In over 20 years Mr. Pöschk has participated in a multitude of projects which aimed to support and upgrade SMEs in many business management aspects.

After an apprenticeship in agriculture, he studied economics with the focus on agribusiness. After working a few years in the food trade and in the food industry for the private sector in Germany, Mr. Pöschk began to participate in the implementation of international projects for different donor organizations and especially for GIZ. The main objective of these projects was the promotion of agricultural and food processing value chains (examples: projects carried out in Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Benin, Mali, Senegal, Mongolia, etc.). He led for example the project “Improvement of the quality of processed products” in Morocco on behalf of GIZ (2002 to 2009). Between 2015 and 2019 he was responsible for the implementation of a value chain project in South East Morocco which aimed at promoting eight value chains and supporting star ups in the development and implementation of business plans and training young people to qualify them for employment in the agriculture and food sector (employment and self-employment).

As an expert for business development, he was often directly involved in the elaboration of business models, implementation and supervision of business plans implementation and capacity development. Mr. Pöschk is used to organize and supervise teams of experts. In various positions as team leader he managed staff and coordinated the corresponding workload and took care of the associated administrative tasks. In many cases, he was responsible for setting up collaborations between public, private and NG Organizations in order to improve the collaboration within value chains. Examples of promoted value chains so far: Olive Oil, Soya, Groundnuts, Maize, Sunflower, Cassava, Rice, Onions, Tomatoes, Dates, Cashew, Karité, Moringa.
